    Christmas in July

Do I have any Christmas fanatics here? Please tell me I’m not the only one? I am so excited that today kicked off Hallmark’s Christmas in July. You can find the entire list of movies right here. I am currently watching Miss Christmas. Do you see my Christmas countdown ornament? Yeah, it stays out all year round! It’s my favorite ornament. Actually, it’s a tie between that and my crystal mistletoe that I got on vacation years ago. It stays out all year round, too. My daughter tells me it doesn’t even count as a Christmas decoration because of how long it’s been out. This is the only time I…

    Kaia Kimono/ Child size

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great morning so far. It’s been pretty quiet here but I’m sure that’ll change once the kids wake up and we head out to go swimming.  AND…. an hour later.. the kids are up and I’ve made breakfast and now settled back down into my chair to finish my post. LOL A few weeks ago I made myself a Kaia Kimono and my daughter, Kelsie, really liked it. I got lucky when the designer of the kimono decided to work up a pattern for child sizes so I jumped on the team to make one for her. We immediately hopped in the…

    Kaia Kimono

I am so excited to show you guys this pattern. I tested it for Denimade and she did not disappoint on this one. But then, she NEVER disappoints. This pattern was a L/XL and took only 7 skeins of I Love This Cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby. I also used an I and K hook, scissors and a needle. Oh, and a tape measure. So, what exactly is a Kimono? A kimono is a formal Japanese robe. It’s generally long and has wide sleeves and tied with a sash. There are so many varieties of kimonos out there now days and I feel like this one is perfect. Just look…

    Reusable Crochet Water Balloons

These have been around for a few years now but I never got on the bandwagon, until now… AND I’M LOVING THEM! I know everyone loves a good water balloon fight, right? But how many of you love spending an hour filling 50 balloons then running through them in two minutes just to spend a week picking up all the balloon remnants off the ground? Yeah, me neither and let’s not mention having to tie those bad boys!!! Pure torture! I break at least two nails and have one good blister when I’m done. Well, not any more! I found an amazing tutorial on reusable crochet water balloons from Left…

Mother’s Day surprises…. Laughter and tears were involved.

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day this past Sunday. My day was fantastic and I was spoiled by my family. Many of you know that my son has had a really rough time the past few years in school and I pulled him out in March to homeschool. I had a rough day last week and it took a village to help me through it. Saturday night my son sat down to make me Mother’s Day card and said I was going to LOVE it. If anyone knows him, he is so full of jokes and pranks that I couldn’t even imagine what he came up with when…

    Continuing my photo challenge journey

I know, I know. It’s day 12 and I’m just now posting days 4-8. I can promise you though that if you look on my Instagram that I am caught up. If you have not read about my first four days you can find them here, Monthly Photo Challenges Day 1-4. Now let’s move along to days 5-8. Day 5: Fave Place To Craft I have a love/hate relationship with this chair. You can kinda see how comfortable it is when you recline and it is. It’s amazing to take a nap in. And it used to be a great chair to sit and crochet in. But it’s broke…. The…

Monthly Photo Challenges… do you like them?

I love monthly photo challenges but I am so bad at keeping up with them. If you follow any of the crocheters on Instagram you’ll see everyone using the #makersmay everywhere. It’s because lovecrochetcom put up a new challenge at the beginning of the month and they’re offering a large prize to one lucky winner to someone who posts a photo a day. You can find the photo here -> https://www.instagram.com/p/BiIaPnbFamS/.  You have to tag them and hashtag makersmay. I have already fallen behind (no shocker there) and am constantly playing catch up. It then occurred to me that I should be posting it here as well and talking more…

Sunglasses Case – A free crochet pattern

I go through a pair of sunglasses every couple of years. They get thrown in my purse, in the truck, and everywhere imaginable when we go on vacation. I’ve searched for a case off and on but none of them were tall enough for my sunglasses. Then I thought I could find a crochet case but it’s been really hard, impossible really, to find one to fit my particular pair of sunglasses. You see, I have to have the sunglasses that fit over my eyeglasses and the only ones I like are the ones from Walmart. They’re a bit big but they’re really pretty and get the job done. I’ve…

Crochet Unicorns… A magic all their own!

Unicorns are the most mystical and beautiful creatures and they are all the rage right now!! You can find them on everything from pillows, ear buds, make up brushes to cereal and unicorn meat 😳. Don’t believe me? Look it up! I promise there’s a photo out there of it. It’s not real but it’s still funny! Lol There’s a lot of buzz going around about the amazing Lavender unicorns from Stitch Witch Creations on FB so I thought I’d show you guys what I’ve made by her patterns. I started making her unicorns last year and they are so gorgeous and work up super easy. Ok, so let’s start…

Homeschool! The good, the bad and the ugly..

Today is day 3 of my son being homeschooled. We are still in the learning and adjusting phase of doing school work at home. Things do not flow smoothly yet but I have high hopes that they will. Today started off so well! Caleb wanted to do Science first and then we moved on to Social Studies.  We learned about personal and civic life and what goes on with each. He wanted to write a letter to the Mayor about how terrible school lunches and how they can make them better. He may not be in the public school system anymore but  he’s advocating for all the other kids who…
