Spaghetti, in the pressure cooker?

Everyone had one and if you didn’t, you probably got one this last Christmas.

That’s me, I finally got a Power Cooker Pressure Cooker for Christmas. I was worried at first that it wasn’t any good because it wasn’t an Instant Pot but I am really pleased with my Power Cooker. So if you are worried about one over the other, it really comes down to the pot inside and a few settings. I even use Instant Pot recipes in my cooker with no problem all the time. So, I didn’t get a chance to try it until New Years Day and I made Black Eye Peas.  I have  made a lot of things with it like chicken,  Beef and Broccoli, Beef Stroganoff, Pinto Beans, Sausage and Beans, all sorts of stuff. I use it at least every other day.

But the one thing I was really hesitant about making was Spaghetti. After doing some research, I’ve come to realize that EVERYONE is scared of making spaghetti in their pressure cooker.  Everyone was talking about how they were worried about a million different things going wrong and then once they tried it they loved it. I was still  nervous about my noodles sticking, running out of water, and my Italian husband not liking it (that’s the major thing), that I didn’t even think about making it. Then I seen the Quick & Easy Instant Pot Spaghetti on Pinterest and I decided right then that I was doing it. I was going to make Spaghetti in the pressure cooker.

The one thing I read about was that you want to put your meat on bottom and then when you add your noodles don’t just throw them in. You want to alternate them so they look like a game of Pick Up Sticks. Make sure your noodles are covered in the liquid. I also added an extra two cups of water because I was scared that it would dry out and I’m glad I did.

It only took about 12 minutes to cook. That’s it! My pot only takes a few minutes to come to pressure and then you set your time for 8 minutes. I was really nervous about opening the lid when the timer went off. This is what I found:

Absolute HEAVEN!! I was so excited that I did my happy dance 🙂

There was the perfect amount of juice and the flavor was out of this world. It was a lot different then what we usually make but it worked. Normally when I cook the pasta on the stove and then add the sauce it’s really thick. This was a really thin sauce. The best part was that my husband loved it. We didn’t have enough noodles to get us through two meals so I had to make more spaghetti the next day to put with the extra sauce so he could have lunch.

I can safely say that this is one recipe that we will definitely be making again.
