Kaia Kimono/ Child size

Good morning!

I hope everyone is having a great morning so far. It’s been pretty quiet here but I’m sure that’ll change once the kids wake up and we head out to go swimming.  AND…. an hour later.. the kids are up and I’ve made breakfast and now settled back down into my chair to finish my post. LOL

A few weeks ago I made myself a Kaia Kimono and my daughter, Kelsie, really liked it. I got lucky when the designer of the kimono decided to work up a pattern for child sizes so I jumped on the team to make one for her. We immediately hopped in the car and went yarn shopping for the perfect color. The Kaia Kimono is normally made in cotton so it could be worn in the summer months but I made this one out of ILTY PRINT in 740 Marled Forest. It’s a khaki green and tan color. Perfect for a teenager!

For this pattern you’ll need

  • I hook
  • J hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Yarn (I only used 3.5 skeins of yarn for the 14/16 size, the largest size the child pattern comes in, but I did not add the fringe to it so you will need a full 4 skeins).

The pattern comes in four different sizes and the 14/16 fit perfectly on my daughter. I am really glad I didn’t go with an adult size for her. She’s very tall but skinny.

Approximate finished bust measurements:
Size……………………Bust….Length
Small (2/4)………….26”……..15”
Medium (6/8)………30”……..20”
Large (10/12)………34”……..20”
X-Large (14/16)…..40”……..25”
