Thinking back on the year…
and moving on to next year.
So, I’m sitting here at the local coffee shop with my White Chocolate Mocha and the newest retest pattern I’m working on trying to get things done while my daughter is across the street at the movies and I’ve been thinking….
Where has this year gone? It’s Dec 31st and it seems like I haven’t gotten anything done that I wanted to do this year. I admit, this year has been extremely hard. We’ve had a surgery to mend back to health and then my mom got real sick and passed away. That took a good chunk of the last half of the year. Even though I’m 800 miles away from home, it has left me feeling extremely empty inside. We were able to go see her and have an incredible week about a month before she passed which will always be cherished. These photos were the last ones taken of mom.
Not to mention, I homeschool my son so that is a good five hours of the day. He’s in 8th grade so it’s Pre-Algebra and a bunch of Literature. It takes up a bunch of time. A lot of it is messing around but that’s how we do it so it’s not so hard on us both. And then, some days, it’s still hard.
I’m exhausted! I didn’t get hardly anything done this year that I wanted to. I wanted to update this website at least once a week but instead took FIVE months to update it. I’m sorry, I will do better. I wanted to learn new stitches each week and I think I only did two. I also wanted to make a temperature blanket. I have the yarn but just didn’t get it done. In fact, I didn’t even start it. I even made a blog post about it with a temperature color chart and all. You can find it HERE if you’d like. Ugh. And most importantly, I wanted to make up at least four of my own designs. I only made two I think. This year has been brutal.
So, my word of the year for 2020 is going to be consistent.
con·sist·ent
adjective
1. acting or done in the same way over time, especially so as to be fair or accurate.
I chose this word because I need more stability when it comes to my business and my overall health. I write out a plan of action for the week but things ALWAYS get pushed back. It never fails. School may be exhausting and I rest for the evening, I may end up with a headache, or I just don’t feel like it. It never fails, I always find an excuse to not do things. So, I’m going to take time out of my week and head somewhere quiet and work on things. Today, it’s the coffee shop to write this blog post and work on my cardigan. By the way: isn’t it looking gorgeous? I love v-stitches! I probably say that way more than I should.
Next week, I may be at the library. Who knows. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go to get a few hours alone so I can get some things done? Do you have any tips on staying focused and getting things done?
Let’s make 2020 a great year!
